Don't expect to see any ivy

The best cure for a hangover is a contentious issue. Some say it's coffee. Others aspirin and a cold shower. Even a beer when you wake up. But this may be the author's favorite remedy to date. Trust him, you're not going to feel good on New Year's Day.

So, who's coming with him?

It has all the makings to be the sporting event of 2009 -- 15 hours into the year. You put the best team in hockey (the Red Wings) against local hockey darlings (the Blackhawks) and you add the quirkiest venues in sports (Wrigley Field). Genius.

Farmer wants a College World Series champion?

The author probably won't be watching much television tonight. Not because he's morally opposed to it, but because he'll be here. Now that they've finally lost at home maybe everyone can just calm the heck down.

For those people not within walking distance to a professional baseball match, it's all about Omaha tonight. And not the ridiculous poker that has invaded our television screens all too often in the past five years. We're talking one game for all the marbles in middle America as Fresno State and Georgia square off. Last night's game featured 29 runs, lasted almost four hours and just really made for a complicated box score.

During commercials, it's gotta be the series finale of "Farmer Wants a Wife." It's about -- wait for it -- a farmer who wants a wife. The only question left is if farmer wants a wife or if he wants a wife with a lip ring even more.
